After living for 30 years in Manhattan and performing in the heart of the NYC jazz world, we’re now based in my hometown of Millbrook, NY in the Hudson Valley, a short trip from NYC. I’m enjoying the peace and quiet here, am teaching quite a bit and playing regularly in this area. I still go into the city fairly often for gigs, and am planning to resume some touring again soon too.

I’ve also continued to study arranging and orchestration and have done some writing for a local chamber music group. My first opportunity to have a piece performed by a full orchestra was in June, 2023.

Presence is a CD released in 2017, a collaboration with my good friend, saxophonist Woody Witt from Houston, TX. It features our compositions, with a couple of standards too. Lee Hudson-Bass and Tom Melito-Drums complete the Quartet. For more info and to order CDs please go to the Music page!

Woody returned to NY State and NYC for a tour in mid-July 2023.

Since 2017 I’ve been an Adjunct Professor at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, teaching Jazz Piano and Jazz Improv. In recent years I’ve also taught in the Music Departments at SUNY New Paltz, Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, NY and at The College of St. Rose in Albany, NY.

Please visit my “Teaching/Clinics” page to arrange for online piano and improvisation lessons via Zoom. There’s also info about my recent college and high school masterclasses and clinics, and other activities in the world of Jazz Education.
